Supporting Saint John’s

Stewardship, or how we look after and use the gifts God gives us, is an important part of our discipleship.

In the Gospels Jesus calls people to follow him and to accept particular forms of service. Christians believe the risen Christ calls people to service today – the word ‘vocation’ means a call.  We do this in many ways.  We try to live out our  faith in our homes, workplaces and in our recreation.  We give of our time, talents and of our money to support the work of Christ in our local and national Church.  This is called Christian Stewardship, and in the bible, we are called to be wise stewards, but we are also called to be generous and joyful in our giving.

As disciples, we believe that God calls each of us to contribute to the life of our church by service and by contributing to pay the bills.  The Church is  charity, and relies upon the generosity of both its members, and the local community it serves.  Without this, we would not be able to do anything.  Because of peoples generosity, we are able to be a vibrant and accessible church.  We are able to come together to worship God a number of times each week.  We can enjoy friendship and fellowship together.  And we are enabled to reach out in service to the wider community.  It is so affirming when we see all the good things happening in and through Saint John’s, to be able to say, ‘I helped make that happen’ – it strengthens our sense of belonging.

There are many ways you might be able to contribute to the worship, work and witness of St. John’s.  You may be able to help in big ways, or in little ways, practically or financially.  All are a vital part of helping us to serve God in Brigg, and we are extremely thankful for all of your support.

Please do pray for us, and ask God to shower us with the gifts necessary to serve Him in our community.
