Worship at St John the Evangelist

Here at St John’s we celebrate the Eucharist predominantly using Common Worship. We also, at times, celebrate the Eucharist and other services using BCP (Book of Common Prayer).

Common Worship is not just another prayer book, but a series of volumes which aims to provide a wide variety of prayers and liturgical resources for use within a common framework and common structures. This allows individual churches to tailor services to their own setting and culture and the needs of their particular congregations.

BCP (Book of Common Prayer) is a permanent feature of the Church of England’s worship and a key source for its doctrine, the Book of Common Prayer is loved for the beauty of its language and its services are widely used.
